Moments That Made Me Smile Today

This morning, after I handed out progress reports to students, one of my failing kids asked if he could talk to me.

When I pulled him aside, he said that he was thinking this weekend about how hard his mom works so that he could get his education, and he wanted to start doing whatever he needed to in order to bring up his grade.

I thought it was nice that he brought up his mom’s sacrifices for his education without anyone laying a guilt trip on him.

I hope he shows up to tutoring.

To end our math department meeting today, our department chair gave us a math problem to do, and first one to get it done would get a prize.

Then she showed us the problem…which turned out to be one of the problems that Rach H made me do with her for her Math Club.

Thanks to Rach H, I am now the owner of some brand new pens—the nice, colored, inky kind, not the cheap “12 for a dollar” kind.

Note:  I did have to rework out the problem, which means I’m not a cheater, right?  But if anyone in the math department disagrees, feel free to ask me for a pen.  =)

Dad was watching the Clippers game tonight, which went into overtime.  It seemed like he was yelling and squealing on every play.

Finally, Mom said, “What’s going on over there?  It sounds like a pig is being slaughtered.”

I laughed like a hyena…then proceeded to eat dinner like a pig.

I think Mom puts drugs or something in the food she makes.  I couldn’t stop eating.  I even ate half of a Milka chocolate bar that was approximately the size of my Mac’s keyboard.

My tummy hurts…but I’m still smiling.
