Today's Peanut Butter Cup Moment: "I Can" →
You’ll never know until you try. You’ll never get better until you try.
And if you try, your “I can’t” may eventually become “I can.”

Today's Peanut Butter Cup Moment: "Keep Moving" →
If you can make it through the night, joy comes with the morning.
Today's Peanut Butter Cup Moment: "No Comparison" →
Stop comparing yourself to others and start focusing on who God is. If you couple His capable power with His crazy, unrelenting love for us…
Then there’s no comparison that can stand.

Conversations at Church Today
Tin, Len, and Mom were all together in the hallway when I walk up. Mom had her back to me.
Tin: Bye, Mom.
Mom: Bye.
Len: Bye, Mom.
Mom: Bye.
Me: Bye, Mom.
(Pause.)
Me (a little louder): Bye, Mom!
Mom starts walking away. I followed and passed her.
Me: Bye, Mom!
Mom (turning to look at me): Oh, Teej, it’s you! I thought you were a boy.
WHAT?!?

Today
I was feeling lazy today.
Actually, that’s the story of my life. My morning consisted of eating, watching TV, and lying on the couch wrapped up in a blanket.
Then Dad came in and asked me to play racquetball with him this afternoon.
I didn’t really want to…because I’m lazy.
But I agreed, just to make him happy.
He said I could take a nap first—which I was...
Today's Peanut Butter Cup Moment: "Calling" →
You are more than what people can see. You have a purpose beyond what your job description says. There is something deeper to you than what others say you are.
You have a calling.

Success isn’t really success unless it is about something that matters. “Our greatest fear should not be failure, but succeeding at things that don’t matter.” —Craig Groeschel
Conversation with Dad
Dad finished watching whatever he recorded and flipped over to the LA Clippers game.
Dad (happily): My Clippers are winning!
Me: “Your” Clippers?
Dad: Yes, “my” Clippers.
Me: I know, I know—that’s your new favorite team.
Dad: I have two favorite teams now. The other one is the New York Knicks—
Me (interrupting): Just because of Jeremy Lin?

T-Shirt Drive!
One of the clubs at the middle school I work at is collecting old T-shirts to be used to make sanitary diapers for babies in Ghana and Kenya.
Their T-shirt drive will be from February 15th to 29th.
If you have any old T-shirts, I’d be happy to take them off your hands for them!
Thanks in advance! =)
Today's Peanut Butter Cup Moment: "Cherish" →
Life is a gift that you can’t earn…but you can determine the quality of your life by your outlook on it. Choose to cherish it.

Was it the kid who is learning Chinese and the parent asked if you knew the language?
No, it wasn’t. But that would have been even funnier! =)
By mistake, a student had turned in a project to me that was meant for another class.
It looks like he had to make a poster about himself. He also had to write about the things on the poster.
Here’s one of the things he wrote:
“If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would want to go to Tokyo because I like Chinese food and they have a lot.”
That made me laugh.
Today's Peanut Butter Cup Moment: "Love Says... →
To communicate love, no matter what the language, you must be saying sacrifice. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” —John 15:13 (NIV)

Made Me Think...and Made Me Grateful
Tonight, Carli had a dinner at her house for girls in foster care. Only two of the girls could make it, but I think they had a good time. I know I’m glad I went.
The girls said something that will stick with me for a while. On the table, Carli had some questions folded into paper hearts. We each took one and took turns answering the questions.
One of the questions was, “If you...
Conversation with Dad, Tin, and Matt
We were watching a match on the Tennis Channel. Matt and Dad were talking about the quality of the different tennis courts around us.
Dad (to Matt): You know where you should play? (To me) Is that the senior center where we used to play?
Me: You mean the community center?
Matt: Are you talking about the one off of Lugonia? That’s the YMCA. I called there once. You have to pay to...

Forget worry. Forget insanity. Go after peace. It’s yours for the taking.
Moments That Made Me Smile Today
This morning, after I handed out progress reports to students, one of my failing kids asked if he could talk to me.
When I pulled him aside, he said that he was thinking this weekend about how hard his mom works so that he could get his education, and he wanted to start doing whatever he needed to in order to bring up his grade.
I thought it was nice that he brought up his mom’s...

Does your situation seem impossible? Are the odds against you? Are you the underdog?
Maybe you need to watch Little Giants. All it takes is one time.
Conversations with Mom and Dad
Mom: Would you ever want to play the drums?
Me: I would totally play the drums. I’ve only done it a handful of times. Once I played in church when Mr. Tate wasn’t there…and the whole time, I was thinking, “Mr. Tate is way better.”
Mom: There was a different drummer at The Rock tonight. They have a bunch of drummers. My favorite is the blond one.
Me: The one...

This is the story of Parallel and Isosceles...
(I thought of Rach H when I read this...)
*******************
Me: Parallel lines are my favorite kind of lines. Parallel... That's a pretty word. That would be such a pretty name for a baby girl! You know, like if I wanted to give my children nerdy math names!
My friend: Parallel? What? Okay, I guess that's a cool name. If I had a baby boy and I was going to give my child a nerdy math name, it would be Isosceles. That's the nerdiest math name ever.
Me: Oh my gosh! I'll have a girl named Parallel and you can have a boy named Isosceles and then they can have cute little math play dates and they can eat pi together!
